Fieldfare Audio Blog - Power supplies in effects pedals?

What does the power supply do in our effects pedals?
Our boutique effect pedals contain various circuit elements that not only filter the voltage but also, for example, increase the voltage to 18V in our overdrives.
Furthermore, a very efficient reverse polarity protection is installed.

What are the benefits of a power supply with these features?
A defective power supply on your pedalboard or a reversed cable can cause serious damage or even failure of your guitar effects pedal.
The built-in safety mechanisms protect against faulty components on your pedalboard and provide better protection for your effects pedal.
With additional filtered power supplies like ours, the voltage supplied by the power supply on your pedalboard is further "improved." This makes it possible for even lower-quality power supplies on your pedalboard to produce less noise on the audio side.
The 18V which is used internally in some of our pedals ensures that you can use the full potential of the pedal in terms of level, for example, even with "high-output" guitars.
Conclusion
Our power supply inside our effects pedals, such as our Fuzz, not only provides greater protection against defective components or faulty external influences, but also provides audible advantages through more headroom and less noise.
Last but not least, these circuits and the corresponding engineering ensure that our boutique effects pedals "made in Germany" are long-lasting. We underpin this with the confidence we place in our development work, backed by a corresponding 3-year warranty.
